Steinmüller Africa Opens Registration For 2026 Boiler Technology Course
Johannesburg - In a bid to plug a critical technical skills gap threatening South Africa’s industrial and energy sectors, engineering heavyweight Steinmüller Africa has officially opened registration for its 2026 Boiler Technology Course.
The five-day online training programme, scheduled to run from 13 April to 17 April 2026, aims to transfer decades of proprietary frontline data directly to the industry's next generation of engineers and welders.
Steinmüller Africa is not an outside observer in the country’s energy sector. The firm is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for nearly 20 000MW of Eskom’s installed generation capacity. It also operates the continent’s only Cojafex Induction Bending Machine and holds the exclusive national qualification for explosive welding in the power generation sector.
The company has turned that operational playbook into a masterclass.
"The dual pressure of stabilising South Africa’s energy supply while simultaneously building a new pipeline of highly skilled technical experts is a challenge we take seriously," said Moso Bolofo, Director at Steinmüller Africa, "This course isn't just an academic exercise; it is a vital knowledge transfer from the people who work on these systems every day to the professionals who will be responsible for keeping them running tomorrow."
Inside the Curriculum
Developed by Steinmüller Africa's own subject matter experts, the intensive virtual course explores all aspects of steam boilers for both utility and industrial purposes.
Modern boiler engineering requires highly specialised knowledge across multiple disciplines, from thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow to advanced materials, firing systems, complex control systems, and specific water chemistry. This Boiler Technology course brings all these critical components together in a concise, interactive format designed for maximum knowledge transfer.
The 2026 syllabus is broken down into eight mission-critical modules:
- Introduction to boilers
- Process design
- Mechanical design
- Piping design
- Boiler construction
- Boiler operation and plant availability
- Boiler maintenance
- Metallurgy
Accreditations and Investment
Beyond upskilling, the course directly addresses the tightening regulatory landscape for local engineering professionals. The masterclass is fully accredited by the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE), awarding participants 5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
The virtual course will run daily from 08:30 to 16:30. The investment for the five-day programme is R14,578.37 (excluding VAT) per person.
Strict Capacity Limits
While the digital format removes geographic barriers for professionals stationed at remote mines or regional power stations, Steinmüller Africa has strictly capped enrolment to ensure high-quality, interactive engagement between instructors and attendees.
Industry professionals are being urged to secure their seats before the registration window closes on 20 March 2026.
